1. D6
2. Nc6

D6 -

When you play d6, the d6 pawn protects the c5 pawn also it frees up the diagonal for your light squared bishop

Nc6 -

When you play Nc6, it protects two important/central squares which are e5 and d4

E6 -

When you play E6, the e6 pawn protects d5 square and f5 square also the dark squared bishop protects the c5 pawn
